$4.2 Million
We delivered justice to a mother and her daughter who were severely injured when their car was hit head-on by a car that lost control after it hydroplaned across a highway’s center line while attempting to drive through a section flooded by a rainstorm.
The section of highway on which they were driving was known to flood due to heavy rain. It is the responsibility of the state agency that manages the highway, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), to manage weather-related hazards on roadways.
During the two-day trial, we demonstrated that the DOTD was at fault, and a judge awarded $3.9 million to the mother, and $300,000 to her daughter, for the severe injuries they suffered as result of this completely preventable accident.
